Overheard a guy at the grocery store say he saves $50 a month just by meal planning on Sundays
That stuck with me so I tried it for the last 6 weeks and my food waste dropped like crazy plus I'm spending about $40 less per trip. Anyone else have a random tip from a stranger that actually worked?

Did your friend ever stop buying bananas and then forget about the ones sitting on the counter? My buddy Mike tried that meal prep thing after some random guy on the bus mentioned it. He started making a big pot of chili every Sunday and froze half of it. Ended up saving about $30 a week on takeout because he actually had food ready to eat. The guy on the bus never knew, but Mike swears by it now.

Man, that banana thing hits way too close to home. I've got a half-eaten bunch on my counter right now that I swore I'd make banana bread with three days ago. Your buddy Mike's chili method sounds way more practical though. I respect the guy on the bus just dropping that wisdom and moving on with his life. Maybe I need to find my own bus guru for meal prep advice. Or at least finish those bananas before they attract fruit flies.

Okay but hold on, let me play devil's advocate here. That $30 a week he saved sounds nice but nobody ever accounts for the hassle of eating the same chili for three days straight. Mike probably got bored out of his mind by Wednesday and ended up ordering pizza anyway. And freezing half a pot of chili means he's eating freezer burnt leftovers in two weeks that taste like cardboard. I've seen people jump on these meal prep trends and they always burn out after a month because it's a lot of work for a little payoff. Not to mention the food waste when you realize you don't actually want chili again.
