My year-long wait to replace the furnace actually saved me hundreds
So, our furnace was on its last legs last winter, and we knew it had to be replaced. Instead of rushing into a loan or using credit, we decided to start a separate savings category in our budget. Every month, we put aside what we could, sometimes just fifty bucks when things were tight. It felt like forever, especially during cold snaps, but we managed with space heaters and extra layers. Finally, after almost a year, we had enough saved up, and guess what? We caught a seasonal discount and got a better model for less. Now, we own it outright with no debt, and our heating bills are lower. Has anyone else tried delaying a big buy to save up cash? I'm curious if the patience always pays off like this.
