I finally got my monthly gas spending under $100 by doing one simple thing

Honestly, my commute to the warehouse district was killing me, spending nearly $180 a month on gas. I started using an app called GasBuddy to find the cheapest station on my route, even if it meant going a few blocks out of my way. After tracking it for three months, I'm consistently hitting $95 or less. Has anyone else found that chasing the lowest price per gallon is worth the extra few minutes of driving?

Yeah, I read something about how the math doesn't always work out if you drive too far out of your way. Like, if you burn a quarter gallon of gas to save three cents a gallon, you're actually losing money. But a few blocks is totally worth it, especially with prices being so crazy. My rule is I won't go more than a mile off my normal path.

Actually my uncle did the math for his truck and found driving two miles saved him almost five bucks on a fill up. That extra distance can really add up over a month, especially if you have a long commute. I sometimes go a bit further if I know the station is consistently cheaper, because it builds a habit that saves over time. Your one mile limit might be leaving real money on the table.

Seriously, that math about burning gas to save money is the key. People forget their car's real cost per mile when they chase a discount. It turns a smart habit into a waste real quick.
