I almost had a $900 emergency fund slip away because of a water leak I ignored too long

Honestly, I was sitting on my couch last Tuesday watching TV when I heard this weird dripping sound in the wall near the bathroom. I figured it was just condensation or something small, so I put a bowl under it and forgot about it for two days. By Thursday morning, the bowl was full and the drywall started bubbling up. I had to call a plumber who charged me $300 to fix a cracked pipe, plus I spent another $150 on a wet vac and dehumidifier from Home Depot. That leak cost me $450 total, and I nearly blew through the $900 I had set aside for car repairs. Anyone else had a small issue balloon into a big hit on their budget because they procrastinated?

Ngl, was your home insurance willing to cover any of that or did you skip that call?

My buddy's adjuster ghosted him for two months. Total joke.

My buddy's insurance dragged their feet for six months before finally cutting a check for half of what he claimed. So yeah, he basically skipped that call after the first go-around.
