Hit $10k in my emergency fund last week and it felt weirdly anticlimactic
I was expecting confetti or something I guess? But I just sat there staring at my spreadsheet feeling empty. Has anyone else built up a big number and then realized you have no idea what to celebrate about it?

Is setting big financial goals kind of like chasing a carrot on a stick where once you catch it you just look for the next one? It sounds like you hit a milestone you worked hard for but there's no big party or trophy at the end, just another number to stare at. I think we build up these moments in our heads way more than they actually play out in real life.

Nah @lee_reed, it's more like the chase itself changes you even if the finish line moves.

Yeah @lee_reed, you nailed it. The moment you finally get there feels hollow because your brain already moved the goalposts while you were still climbing. I hit a savings number last year that would have sounded like fantasy to me five years ago. All I felt was tired and a little confused about what comes next.
