My flight to Lisbon got canceled, but a trick saved my trip.
The airline offered a $200 voucher, but I called and politely asked for a hotel voucher instead, which they gave me. Has anyone else had luck getting more than just a flight credit from a cancellation?

My cousin once got a meal voucher for a canceled flight, but it was only for the airport food court.

That hotel voucher trick is a total gamble. Most airline reps are trained to say no to anything beyond their standard policy. You just got lucky with a new employee or a good mood.
