I swore by dorm beds for every trip until a $19 hostel in Austin changed my mind
I always picked shared dorms to save cash, but splitting a $38 private room with a friend in Austin last month was quieter and barely cost more each. Anyone else find that going private sometimes beats the dorm math?
Booked a private room in Nashville last spring for $52 split between me and my buddy and it was a game changer. We got actual sleep instead of listening to some guy snore all night and someone else's alarm going off at 5am. Plus we could leave our stuff out without worrying about it getting taken. The dorm would've been like $28 each so we paid basically nothing extra for way more comfort. Now I always check private room prices first before just defaulting to the cheapest bunk.
