Old trick for leveling bricks is a game changer. Run a tight string line first. Then use a hammer handle to tap each brick down to the line. Saves so much time over eyeballing it.

My friend tried to lay a patio without a string line last summer... he was just eyeballing it and ended up with this wavy mess that pooled water after every rain. I told him about @lindal13's hammer handle trick, and he redid the whole thing following that method. Now it's perfectly flat and drains like a dream... saved him from tearing it all out.
