Three days of rain last April made me love moss in my garden

I used to pull moss out of every crack in my path and off the shady side of my shed. But after a solid three days of drizzle here in Portland, the whole corner under the big maple turned this amazing deep green velvet. I sat there on day three just watching the water bead up on it and realized I was fighting something that actually looked pretty nice. So I let it stay, and now I actually look forward to that patch in spring. Has anyone else just stopped fighting a plant they used to hate?

I was so determined to win against the moss on my front steps last year I bought this little scraper tool and everything. Used it like twice and gave up after a rainy week turned the whole thing into a slick little carpet. Now I just tell people it's a "natural landing pad" and pretend I planned it. My neighbor asked if I was going to power wash it off and I was like nah, it's eco-friendly decor now. Saves me the back pain too.

Wait isn't moss supposed to be kinda slippery when it's wet though? lol I mean I get wanting to go the eco route but that stuff gets nasty slick after rain, like straight up ice skating rink vibes. I had some on my back porch and almost ate it twice before I gave in and scrubbed it off. I don't blame you for ditching the scraper though, those things are a joke on anything bigger than a square foot. Good on you for saving your back honestly, that's the real win here. But maybe toss some salt down when it's wet so nobody ends up visiting the ER for your "landing pad" haha.
