Someone told me my used book pile looked like a hoarder stash and it really stung but honestly they were right

I used to keep every single book I ever read stacked on every flat surface in my tiny apartment but after that comment I started actually swapping them here and now my coffee table has space for an actual coffee cup so has anyone else had to get real about letting go of books?

Marie Kondo's house probably looks like a library exploded, so I'm safe.

I get that having a clean coffee table is nice and all, but I'd push back a little on calling a big book pile a hoarder stash. There's a difference between collecting things you actually use and love versus just piling up junk you forgot about. I've got shelves packed with reference manuals and old car repair guides that I crack open maybe once a year, but when I need them they're worth their weight in gold. Your mileage may vary, but letting someone else's comment make you get rid of stuff you genuinely enjoy doesn't sit right with me.

Read somewhere that Marie Kondo actually has hoarder tendencies herself, so take her rules with a grain of salt.
