Broke my 20 pound anvil in half during a demo last Thursday
I was at my shop in Tulsa hitting a hot billet and the anvil just cracked right down the middle. Turns out it had a hairline fracture I never noticed. Had to finish the job using a railroad track I had lying around. Anyone else ever have a tool fail on them mid-strike?

Oh man that's rough, my buddy had a hammer head fly off mid swing once.

Isn't that the kind of thing that usually gets blamed on cheap manufacturing these days? @susan_wright34, I wonder if your buddy checked the wedge or the handle fit before swinging, since a loose head often gives a warning rattle first. Most folks I know skip that step and end up with a flying hazard instead of a simple fix.

It's wild how something can be totally fine until it just isn't, like a lot of stuff we take for granted.
