Unpopular opinion: I think The Wire is way overhyped

A guy at my local bar in Portland told me I was missing the point because I skipped season 2, so I went back and watched it. Now I get why people love it, but honestly, I still think season 4 is the only one that really hits. Anyone else feel like the hype makes it hard to enjoy?

Did you watch it on a big enough screen or just a laptop?

Oh man, I made that mistake at first! I watched the first twenty minutes on my laptop and it just felt flat. Switched over to my 55" TV with the lights off and it was a totally different experience. The sound design alone made it worth the bigger screen - those little audio details really pop when you're not listening through laptop speakers.
