Rant: I was dead wrong about Dark and it took me 3 episodes to admit it

Everyone kept hyping Dark on Netflix and I just rolled my eyes. German time travel show? Sounded like pretentious nonsense to me. But my brother basically forced me to watch the first episode during a visit to Phoenix and I was bored stiff. Then episode 3 hit with that reveal in the cave and I was completely hooked. Has anyone else had a show they dismissed hard only to get totally pulled in later?

Went through the same thing with Black Mirror actually. First episode was such a turn off I almost quit the whole show. Kept hearing people rave about it though so I forced myself through a couple more and suddenly I was binge watching the whole thing. Sometimes you just gotta push past that slow start I guess.

Wait, did you really think it was pretentious or were you just not in the mood for subtitles at first? I gave up on Dark after two episodes because it felt like every character was just staring at each other in the rain. But my roommate made me finish it and I still think it's overrated, the whole time travel thing gets way too tangled by season 2 with all those identical twins running around.
