Burned 12 hours on a show that got canceled after one season

I got super into this new sci-fi series called The Outpost on some streaming service last month. Binged the whole 10 episodes in like two days, stayed up till 3am on a work night. Then I looked it up and found out they canceled it after season 1 with a massive cliffhanger. Wasted like 12 hours of my life for nothing lol. Has anyone else fallen for a show that just got axed with no real ending?

Does this feel like a pattern lately where everything gets set up for more but never pays off? I swear streaming services are just farming us for engagement numbers now, not actually trying to tell complete stories. You put in the time, get invested in characters, then poof nothing. It's like buying half a book and getting told the rest never got printed. The worst part is they greenlit it knowing they'd probably cut it if it didn't blow up immediately.

Cable TV used to at least give you a full season and let things end, even if the ending was rushed. Now it's like they order a pilot, cross their fingers, and if it doesn't break the top ten in week one you get a cliffhanger tweet saying "we're grateful for the fans." It's ending up cheaper for them to just keep recycling the same three franchises because those already have built-in numbers.

Honestly even my local coffee shop does this now, they tease a seasonal drink for weeks and then "oops sorry we ran out of ingredients by day two." Everything's just a hype machine with no follow through anymore.
