Had to pick between a white noise app and a fan for sleep sounds

Last week I decided to test if a free white noise app on my phone actually worked better than my old box fan. I tried the app for three nights straight and woke up with a dead battery every morning since I forgot to plug it in. Switched back to the fan and slept fine, but now I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Anyone else find that phone apps don't quite cut it compared to a real fan?

Did your friend ever try using a white noise app through a Bluetooth speaker instead of the phone speaker? I knew a guy who swore by his fan until his broke mid-summer and he had to use his laptop for white noise instead.

Yeah, "laptop speakers are garbage" is right... I tried that one night when my old fan finally died and I was desperate. The static and tinny sound just made it worse honestly. Bluetooth speaker with a white noise app is totally the way to go, I use a little one I keep on my nightstand and it sounds so much more like a real fan or rain or whatever. My phone speaker just doesn't have the depth, it's too sharp and keeps me awake instead of helping. That laptop thing your friend tried sounds like a nightmare, mine would crackle and cut out randomly... ugh.

Bluetooth speaker is the move or what? That's how I use my white noise app and it sounds way closer to a real fan. Laptop speakers are garbage though, had a friend try that and it was all static.
