Found a weird trick for keeping a fire steady in my offset during a windstorm

Last week I was cooking a pork shoulder in my backyard in Omaha and a big wind kicked up. My fire kept surging and dropping, messing with my temps. I ended up using a couple of old cinder blocks to build a small windbreak on the side of the pit, about a foot away. It cut the direct wind by a lot and my fire settled right down after about twenty minutes. Has anyone else found a good way to deal with wind without moving the whole rig inside a garage?

Wow, I always thought you had to move it! That cinder block idea is actually genius.

Wait, you just had cinder blocks lying around like @grace89 said, that's wild!
