That $80 digital scale I bought on a whim changed my baking game
Honestly, I used to just scoop flour straight from the bag with measuring cups. My cookies were always a bit flat and my bread was never quite right. About a year ago, I got fed up and spent around $80 on a good digital kitchen scale. Tbh, I felt silly spending that much on something so simple. But ngl, seeing the exact grams for everything, especially flour, made a huge difference. My cookie batches are now super consistent, and my sandwich bread finally has that soft, even crumb I wanted. It's wild how one tool can fix so many little fails. Has anyone else had a basic piece of gear turn things around for them?

Yeah, @ryantorres is right about it being underrated. It feels like you unlock a whole new level of control, you know? My cakes stopped being so dense once I started weighing the sugar too.

Read a blog post once that called a kitchen scale the most underrated tool in baking. You're totally right about the difference it makes.

Totally agree with you, @ryantorres. My buddy tried to make my grandma's cookie recipe last year and it was a total mess. He used cups and the dough was like soup. I finally got him to buy a cheap scale and weigh the flour. The next batch was perfect, exactly like I remember. He couldn't believe a ten dollar tool fixed everything. That blog post was spot on, it really is a game changer for getting things right.
