My sourdough starter went from a sad puddle to a bubbly monster in 48 hours after I moved it to the oven with the light on.

Actually, the oven light trick is a classic baker's hack. It creates a perfect warm spot, around 80-85 degrees, which is ideal for yeast activity. As long as the oven itself is off, it's just a cozy insulated box. My starter would never get going in my cold kitchen without it.

Seems like a great way to bake your starter.

Wait, they're putting the starter in the oven? That's insane. It'll kill all the yeast.
