Suet feeder was empty for 3 weeks before I realized the starlings were emptying it in 2 hours flat each morning

I switched to an upside-down suet feeder and now the downy woodpeckers get their fair share without the starlings gobbling everything up in under 20 minutes, has anyone else had luck with those anti-starling tricks?

Wait, he's saying the woodpeckers figured out the upside-down feeder in, what, a day? That's wild to me because my downy woodpeckers took almost a whole week to get the hang of it, and the nuthatches were doing backflips trying to reach the suet at first. Starlings just sat on the ground looking confused (which was hilarious, not gonna lie). I actually had to put a little perch on the side of mine before the woodpeckers would even try it.

Did you try putting the suet in a cage with smaller openings?

Oh man, that's a classic starling move lol. I had the same problem and the upside-down feeder was a game changer for me too. The woodpeckers and nuthatches figured it out right away but the starlings just gave up after a few tries.
