Noticed the blue jays were ignoring my platform feeder completely
I moved it about 15 feet away from the window and added a small water dish on the ground nearby. They started using it the next morning, maybe they felt safer with a clearer escape route. Anyone else have a spot birds just refuse to visit until you moved something?

Moving a feeder 15 feet is a lot of work for something that might just be a coincidence. Birds are pretty random, they could have just found it the next day anyway. Seems like a lot of overthinking for what is basically just putting out bird food. People read way too much into animal behavior sometimes.

Wow, that's actually a really smart fix. It makes total sense they'd want a quick getaway path. So was it just the distance from the window, or do you think the water dish was the bigger deal for them? I'm trying to figure out if it's about safety, comfort, or both.
