Got caught in a flash flood on the Colorado Trail near Twin Lakes last July. Had to make a call: cross the rising creek or backtrack 8 miles.

Can't relate, my biggest trail call is picking the wrong snack.

Backtracking 8 miles sounds rough, but was crossing a rising creek the only other choice? That area gets afternoon storms all summer, so the water can go up fast. I'm just not sure a flash flood there is usually deep enough to be a real life or death call. Maybe waiting it out on high ground was an option? Sometimes it's better to just chill and let the water drop.
