Warning about those new 'universal' O2 sensor sockets
I had a 2018 F-150 in the bay last week and the old sensor came out fine with the standard tool. Tried the same job yesterday on a 2022 model and the new 'universal' socket I bought just spun on the hex, completely rounding it off. The sensor design changed and the tool didn't grip. Anyone else run into this with the newer body styles?

Rounding it off" sounds like a one time thing, not a big deal lol.

Look at it from a manager's point of view, elliot_patel. If they let one person round their time up once, they have to let everyone do it, and that adds up to a ton of lost money over a year. It's never just one time, because then everyone will want the same treatment. That's why companies have such strict rules, they see the small stuff as a slippery slope.

Feel your pain, that rounding off is the worst. Had the same thing happen with a newer Silverado, the socket just chewed up the hex. Makes you miss the old designs. Totally get what @christopher943 is saying about rules adding up, but man, when a tool fails and costs you an hour of extra work, it feels personal. Those universal sockets are a gamble now.
