That one guy at the star party fixed my whole setup

I was at a dark sky site in Ohio last month. My tracking was way off on the mount. He walked over, said 'your polar alignment is trash.' Then he spent 15 minutes showing me the drift method. No lecture, just showed me. Has anyone else had a random stranger save their whole night?

Honestly I used to think people who jumped in like that were just being pushy but now I get it, they're just saving the night before you even know it's ruined.

Last month some dude at Cherry Springs walked over and just said "your declination cable is unplugged" and walked away.
