I tried to ask my neighbor about his lawn sprinkler system and things got weird
Last week, I saw him out there and asked a simple question about his timer settings, and he launched into a 45-minute story about water pressure, city codes, and his cousin's failed koi pond. I just wanted to know if I should water in the morning or evening. Has anyone else had a simple 'ask anything' moment spiral into a full lecture?

I just smile and nod until I can escape.

Oh man, that's the worst feeling. I've totally been on both sides of that, and @lindal13's story just proves how awkward it is for everyone. It's like your brain just shuts down and the smile-and-nod autopilot kicks in. Honestly, sometimes you just gotta make a polite excuse and bail for your own sanity.

Man, my buddy did that at a party and @the_joseph was the one he was stuck nodding at.
