Shoutout to the team that dug at the old Roman fort site near York

They used ground radar first and found the whole bathhouse layout, while the other group just started digging and missed a big wall. The radar saved months of work and kept the site in good shape. So is tech like this always better than just digging right away, or does it depend on the site?

But it's just a hole in the ground.

Scanning first is a no brainer. It's like checking for studs before you drill into a wall. You can plan your whole dig around what you see, instead of just hoping you hit something. That team saved a ton of time and didn't wreck anything important. Why wouldn't you use the tech if it's there?

Always do the scan if you can. Saves you from looking like an idiot when you dig right past the main feature.
