Wasted $150 on a cheap pole saw that snapped on the third branch
Picked up a no-name pole saw from a hardware store last spring thinking I'd save a few bucks. First two cuts went fine, but on the third branch about 2 inches thick the whole head just twisted off and dropped 15 feet. Called the company and they said it's a 'wear item' so no refund. Has anyone else had luck with those aftermarket replacement heads or should I just bite the bullet on a name brand?

A wear item"? That's wild, a pole saw head snapping off after three branches sounds more like a defect than normal wear and tear to me.

Man, three branches and it snaps clean off? That's not wear and tear, that's just bad luck or bad design.

Man, I used to be all about saving money on tools like that... figured a pole saw is a pole saw right? But after watching a buddy go through three cheap ones in a season I finally caved and got a decent brand. It hurt at first but honestly it changed my mind on the whole buy once cry once thing.
