I tracked a fridge leak for three days until a YouTube comment saved my bacon

I saw a post last week saying most fridge water leaks come from the defrost drain, not the supply line. I always check the water line first, like everyone I know. But a guy in the comments shared a stat: 70% of fridge calls he handles are defrost drain clogs. I was skeptical, but I tried it on a GE from 2019, and sure enough, ice was backed up in the drain tube. Five minutes with hot water and a turkey baster, leak fixed. Anyone else think we jump to the supply line too fast?

Bet your sweet bippy I jump to the supply line first, it's like we're all TRAINED to assume the worst. Turns out 70% of us are just wasting time staring at hoses while a turkey baster and hot water are the REAL heroes. Guess my next leak diagnostic step is checking YouTube comments BEFORE the fridge itself.

Right, because nothing says "pro troubleshooting" like standing in the dark holding a hose while your turkey baster sits in the drawer like a useless kitchen sidekick. I bet half those people probably own three different kinds of pliers but never thought to grab a measuring cup and some tap water. YouTube comments are the new repair manual - way more honest and usually funnier than the actual instructions.

72% of the time my first move is panicking and kicking the fridge, so I feel personally attacked but also totally seen. YouTube comments are basically the only reason I'm not living in a house that's slowly flooding right now.
