Can we talk about the push for wireless everything in new builds?
I installed a hardwired system in a Denver remodel last month, and the homeowner's builder tried to convince them it was outdated. A solid wired panel with a cellular backup is still the most reliable setup I've ever put in. Anyone else sticking with copper in a wireless world?

What did you end up telling that homeowner? I had a client last year whose builder said the same thing about running ethernet. I just laid out the facts: my wired gear from ten years ago still works perfect, but I've had to replace three different wireless routers in that same time. A wire doesn't drop signal when the microwave runs. They went with the wired setup.

Three routers in ten years? That's the real horror story here. I'm stuck buying a new one every other year like clockwork. Makes the case for wires even stronger if the wireless gear itself just dies that fast. You're basically paying over and over for something less reliable. I'd run cable just to stop the cycle of replacing expensive plastic boxes.

A wire doesn't drop signal when the microwave runs" is the perfect sales pitch. It's like arguing against gravity. You can't really come back from that with "but the Wi-Fi looks cleaner.
