Tell me about it, that "half my home repairs" line is too real. I've learned to just double the time and money I think a project will take right from the start. You buy the part, then you need the tool, then you find the real problem. Isn't that always the way? My best advice is to keep a separate budget just for the unexpected stuff that pops up. It keeps the frustration down when the simple fix turns into a whole thing.

Yeah, I feel you @spencer8. My version of that is buying the special tool, using it once, and then never finding it again when I need it.
