A guy at the hangar in Phoenix called me out on my torque wrench habit

I used to just set my clicker wrench and go, thinking the click was enough. Last week, an old timer saw me and said, 'Kid, you ever check that thing? My buddy lost a panel at 10,000 feet from a bad wrench.' I felt dumb but took my whole set to the calibration shop the next day. Two of my three wrenches were off by more than 5%. Anyone else have a regular schedule for tool checks they stick to?

That's a smart policy for the gym. Makes me think even home tools should get a yearly look, just to be safe.

My car manual says to check the lug nut torque every tire rotation.

My gym's torque wrench for bikes gets checked every six months.
