My mom told me to stop preheating the air fryer and I finally tried it yesterday
I always preheated mine for like 5 minutes before putting anything in. But my mom was visiting last week and said she never preheats hers for frozen stuff. I shrugged it off. Then yesterday I threw some frozen chicken tenders in cold and they came out way crispier than usual. Is this a known thing or did I just get lucky with that batch? Has anyone else tried skipping preheat?

lol that's funny because I found the opposite with fries. I skipped preheating last week and they came out all soggy on one side. But now I'm wondering if it depends on what you're cooking. Like maybe breaded stuff does better with a cold start since it lets the coating crisp up slower.

Breaded stuff yes... frozen no way.

Cold start works great for chicken tenders though.
