I saw a demo at the MIT Media Lab that flipped my view on AI in music

They had an AI listen to a violinist and generate a real-time cello harmony, and it wasn't just copying. It was actually improvising new melodies based on the player's emotion. Has anyone else seen AI used for live performance like that?

But how do you define "reading musical patterns" then?

For me, it's about recognizing the chord progressions and tempo changes that usually signal a shift in feeling. It's like learning the grammar of a song.

That's cool, but AI can't actually detect emotion, it's just reading musical patterns.
