I know everyone loves the new multi-model AI agents, but I just built a simpler one that works better
After 3 months of testing, my single-task bot for data cleaning in Python beat a fancy generalist agent on speed and accuracy by 15%. Has anyone else found that simpler, focused AI tools actually get more done?

Works better" is a bit vague for a real comparison. Speed and accuracy are clear, but did you measure things like setup time or how much hand-holding each one needed? A simpler tool often wins on the main task, but the generalist might save time overall by not needing separate tools.

Robert's right about switching costs... I see this with kitchen gadgets all the time. The single-use tool gets put away and forgotten, while the good knife gets used for everything. The simpler, more general thing often just gets more done in the real world.

Used to chase the specialist tool every time. Your point about setup and switching costs is spot on though. The generalist might be slower at the one job but saves a ton of hassle.
