Hit 500 unread emails after midnight and something clicked

I was doomscrolling my inbox at 2 AM and realized I'd actually hit exactly 500 unread messages, most from spam and newsletters I signed up for during late-night boredom sessions. Has anyone else here ever just stopped and deleted everything older than a month?

That 500 number is wild but honestly I gotta ask why everyone gets so dramatic about deleting emails. I mean barbarah19 brings up the receipt thing and okay yeah that could be annoying but like how often do you actually return something? I've been sitting on 2000 unread emails for like two years and the only thing that happened is I missed a coupon for 15% off at CVS. People act like their inbox is some sacred archive but half that stuff is just automated alerts and marketing fluff you clicked yes on at 1 AM.

So I did that once and accidentally nuked a receipt I needed for a return.

I mean come on @barbarah19, how important could ONE receipt really be? Stores have digital records now anyway, you probably could've just looked it up.
