Three years ago I swore off spray foam insulation, but last week I changed my mind.

I had a bad experience in 2021 when a contractor messed up the spray foam in my garage and it off-gassed for months. Last week I toured a house in the North Valley that used closed-cell foam and the difference in air sealing was obvious. Has anyone here used spray foam in an ABQ home and regretted it later?

Heard a story from my buddy in Rio Rancho who got sprayed in 2022 and had to rip out half his attic because the foam trapped moisture and caused wood rot. His electric bill actually went down a bit, but the repair costs wiped out any savings he got from the lower energy use. Told me he wishes he'd just gone with regular fiberglass and a good air seal job instead.
