The plumber who showed me why I was wasting time on pipe threads

Old timer at the hardware store on Lomas watched me struggle with Teflon tape for 10 minutes. He said "stop wrapping it, just use the dope stuff" and handed me a tube of RectorSeal. Has anyone else switched from tape to pipe dope for their home plumbing work?

My buddy Dave tried the tape route on his kitchen sink. Spent a whole Saturday redoing it three times because it kept dripping. Finally his neighbor came over, laughed, and slapped some pipe dope on there. Worked perfect first try and Dave said he felt like an idiot for wrestling with that tape all day.

Watched @olivia398's buddy Dave go through that exact same thing and it reminds me how stubborn people get about doing things the "right way" even when it's clearly not working. Tape is one of those things everyone swears by until they try dope once and realize they've been making their lives harder for no reason lol. It's like how everyone insists on using a screwdriver when a good impact driver would save them ten minutes - we just get stuck in our habits. The old timer at the hardware store was dead on, a little tube of RectorSeal costs like five bucks and saves you a whole Saturday of frustration.

Laughing at Dave because I've been that guy more times than I care to count. You spend hours fighting with tape when the right goop would've fixed it in two minutes flat.
