You mentioned the sound of rewinding tapes, and that really takes me back. I keep mine in those plastic storage cases you can get at thrift stores, sorted by the year I bought them. It keeps the dust off and stops them from getting warped. There's something about the weight of a tape in your hand that streaming just can't replace.

Totally with you, @riley_hart. The skin adds a fat layer that changes everything. My stocks go from thin to rich and creamy when I include it. That mouthcoat thing is real, makes sauces stick to pasta better.

Chalk is handy for outlines, no doubt. The cop show bit is funny, but that dust gets into everything. In my experience, a low-tack tape lasts longer without the mess.
