My hearing is getting worse every season and nobody on site seems to care.

My left ear started ringing nonstop after a summer of using jackhammers. It got so bad I had to ask people to repeat themselves all the time. The foreman just shrugged and told me to wear ear plugs, like I wasn't already. Now I miss parts of conversations and it's honestly pretty lonely. Sometimes I just nod and pretend I heard what was said... Management acts like it's not a real problem until you file paperwork, and even then they drag their feet.

That ringing messes with sleep too, which just makes everything worse. It's wild how they ignore something that literally changes how your brain works all day.

Why do people act like constant noise is no big deal? After seeing @blakeb73 talk about just nodding along, it made me think of my old neighbor with a smoke alarm that beeped every hour. He complained to the building manager for weeks, but they called it a small annoyance. That beep messed up his sleep so much he kept dozing off during the day. It took him threatening to call the city before they finally changed the battery. Stuff like that shows how easy it is for others to ignore a problem that slowly wrecks your life.

That story about the smoke alarm beep is exactly the kind of slow drain people don't get. Blake, when your foreman shrugged about the ear plugs, did you ever get a straight answer on why they wouldn't swap out the older, louder equipment for something newer?
