I laughed at cable management until smoke came out of my case

I always thought sorting cables was just for show. My pc worked fine with wires all over the place. Then a loose cable sparked and fried my ssd. Now I carefully route every wire with guides. Guess aesthetics aren't the only point after all.

A buddy of mine lost his entire gaming setup to a faulty surge protector. It's easy to forget that some parts are there for more than just looks. Now he has a very expensive paperweight collection. I make sure to check all my connections twice after hearing stories like that. It's one of those things you don't think about until it's too late.

See this all the time with things people think are just for show. Cable management is exactly that, like @hannahh22 found out when a short almost wrecked her system. It happens with home wiring or car maintenance too, where folks skip basics until it costs them. Function really does come before looks, but we often learn that after damage is done. Now I always secure my cables tight after hearing about your sparking wire.
