My unexpected find in New Mexico's backcountry
Ngl, I was hiking and found a hot spring that isn't on any tourist sites. The water was so warm and clear, it felt like a secret. Why do you think spots like this stay hidden?

New springs pop up, maps can't keep up.

Finding a hot spring off the beaten path is cool, but in my experience, places like that stay hidden because they're hard to get to or not that special once you're there. Your mileage may vary, but sometimes the mystery is better than the actual spot. Take this with a grain of salt, but maybe it's not on tourist sites because the water isn't consistently warm or safe. Locals might know about it but keep it quiet to avoid crowds.

Yeah, I once hiked two hours for a "secret" spring that turned out to be a lukewarm puddle. The mystery was definitely better, and so were my boots before they got muddy.
