I used to swear by fasting windows, but the clock watching drove me nuts.

Constantly checking the time made eating feel like a chore.

Remember hearing a podcast where a dietitian said any plan making you watch the clock is probably missing the point. It can turn a simple dinner with friends into this whole thing where you're checking your phone instead of talking. Maybe it's just me but reading that made sense, like if your weekend plans get ruined because you hit your eating window at 4 pm, maybe the system is the problem. Idk, that whole idea of living by a timer just seems to add stress it's supposed to take away.

Ever notice how fasting by the clock makes regular meals with friends or family totally weird? Suddenly a late lunch or early dinner throws your whole system off because you're not just eating when hungry. That mental load of scheduling your life around a fasting app notification can be more draining than any hunger pang. Who decided our social lives should bend to an arbitrary twelve or sixteen hour timer anyway? Turns a basic human thing into a math problem you have to solve every single day.

Fasting by the clock has given my days a clear pattern. It takes away the need to decide when to eat. Social meals are just planned during my eating time, so it's not hard math but an easy plan. The setup lets me think about other things instead of food. Yes, it takes some time to get used to, but the good points make it worth it. In the end, it's about what fits your life.
