Frustrated with myself for ruining a bob by not sectioning properly

My stylist in Chicago cuts bobs freehand without sectioning. She thinks sectioning can ruin the natural flow of the hair. A good eye and steady hand matter more than perfect sections.

Absolutely! Your stylist is SO right about this. I had a stylist in Seattle who did the exact same thing, and my bob always looked amazing. She said sectioning can make hair look too blocky and fake. It's all about seeing the whole shape and working with how the hair naturally falls. That kind of cut has so much more movement and life. It takes real skill, but when it's done right, it's PERFECT.

My friend tried trimming her own bob last month and completely skipped sectioning. She had to wear a hat for three weeks until it grew out.
