Hit 500 board feet of reclaimed oak stripped and ready this year

I just tallied my shop notes and realized I've prepped over 500 board feet of reclaimed oak since January. It's all from a single old barn I'm breaking down. The number shocked me because every piece needed hours of hand scraping and chemical stripping to get past the old paint and grime. I guess the hours just added up without me noticing. Anyone else get blindsided by their own production totals?

Actually, board feet is the right way to measure it for solid wood. It's a volume thing, not just length. That's a ton of work to get that much clean stock.

I used to think counting board feet was just for lumber yards. Then I spent a whole summer pulling nails and planing old pine from a shed. When I stacked it all at the end, I had enough for a new floor and a workbench. The pile looked small, but the tally told a different story. It really makes you see the value in all that quiet, dusty work.

Ugh, sounds like a huge waste of time.
