Candle wax trick for smooth drawer slides

An antique dresser had drawers that stuck every time. I rubbed a plain candle on the wooden slides, and they glide perfectly now. Do you prefer wax or soap for this kind of job?

I was always a soap person for sticky drawers (the bar kind, you know). Seeing this post made me try candle wax on an old desk, and it worked way better than soap ever did. The wax seems to last longer and doesn't get gummy or attract dust in the same way. I'm totally converted for wooden slides now, it's just a cleaner fix.

That's a smart find with the candle wax. It fits a pattern where simple, old fixes often beat modern shortcuts. Take cleaning windows with vinegar and newspaper instead of spray bottles. Or using a bar of soap to help a tight ring slide off a finger. These tricks use common items and avoid messy residues. Your wax solution is another win for that kind of practical thinking.

Kinda makes you wonder if the soap thing only works in super dry places. Where I am the humidity turns soap gummy fast, but wax holds up better with the weather changes.
