Totally. My friend had her basement flood last spring and like six people from her street just showed up with pumps and buckets. Makes you realize how much we actually need each other, you know?

Saw my neighbor's car die in the grocery store lot last winter. An older guy from two streets over just hooked up jumper cables without even being asked. That kind of stuff quietly holds a neighborhood together.

Man, I used to be so focused on my own stuff that I barely knew my neighbors' names. But last month my power went out during a storm and the guy across the street ran an extension cord over so my fridge wouldn't spoil. Totally changed my view on why that stuff matters.
