A client told me my invoices looked like ransom notes. He was right.
Turns out I was just copy-pasting from a template with no structure. A guy I freelance for said he couldn't tell what was due vs already paid. Redid them with bold headers and a simple table. Now I get paid 2 weeks faster on average. Anyone else have a simple fix that changed way more than you expected?

Realized most people just scan for bold words so I stopped writing paragraphs.

That's a really good point @matthewmartin. I started bolding my due dates and totals after a client missed two payments in a row. turned out he was just skimming and never saw the "PAST DUE" line. now I put the total owed at the top in bold and the date right under it. makes a big difference.
