Checked out the old steel mill museum in Pittsburgh and the sand molds looked wrong

I was at the Rivers of Steel museum last weekend and their display of historic casting patterns had the parting lines totally mislabeled, calling them 'flash lines' instead. It's a small thing but it bugs me when a place teaching the public gets basic trade terms wrong. Has anyone else seen a museum or show mess up foundry terms like that?

Honestly, does it really matter? @fiona985, they got the idea across.

Ngl, sometimes people get way too hung up on tiny details. It's a sign at a farm, not a college textbook. If folks walk away understanding the basic idea of blacksmithing, the sign did its job. Obsessing over every word just makes learning feel like a chore for everyone else.

Totally get your frustration, it makes the whole exhibit feel less legit. I once corrected a sign at a living history farm about blacksmithing and then immediately felt like a huge nerd. The worst part is I was right, and they still haven't fixed it. That kind of basic mix-up really does a disservice to the craft they're trying to honor. You'd think they'd have a consultant or something to catch those terms.
