I used to walk with my head down, now I always look up

For years, my walks were all about the ground. I'd watch my feet, look at cracks in the sidewalk, maybe spot a coin. It changed about six months ago when I tripped over a curb in Seattle because I was staring at my phone. After that, I made a rule to just look up more. Now I see things I totally missed before, like the way an old maple tree's branches twist into the sky, or a hawk sitting on a streetlight. I even spotted a weird little metal owl on a roof peak that I must have passed a hundred times. My walks feel bigger now, less about just getting steps in and more about seeing the whole picture. Does anyone else have a simple change like that that made your walks better?

That "seeing the whole picture" thing is a real life upgrade.

Right, patricialee, but how do you even get that full view?

It took me way too long to figure that out. I spent years staring at the same two puzzle pieces, wondering why nothing made sense. Finally getting that wider view felt like someone turned the lights on, but man, I wish I'd asked for the lamp sooner.
