Found a perfectly round stone in the creek last week

I was walking along Miller Creek in the late afternoon and saw it sitting right in the middle of the water. It's about the size of a quarter and feels so smooth in my hand. Anyone else find something simple that just makes you smile?

Oh man, that's the best feeling. I read somewhere that water can polish a stone like that over thousands of years. Makes you wonder about its whole journey, right? Just tumbling along until one day you pick it up. It's crazy how holding something that old and simple can just stop you in your tracks. Those little finds are better than anything you could buy.

Actually it's more like millions of years for that polish, not thousands.

My grandpa had a jar of river stones on his porch he collected over 50 years. Each one was smooth like glass. He'd say the river did all the work, we just get to notice it. It really does make you think about all the quiet history in your hand, all that time just to make it fit perfectly in your palm. That's a kind of value no store tag can ever show.
