Wait, those are bottle caps, not milk caps. Milk caps are the little cardboard discs from the old school glass bottles. That's a seriously weird collection though, I'll give you that.

My grandpa always called them milk caps, so I never questioned it. But you're right, those cardboard ones are totally different. Guess I learned something today.

Actually the cardboard ones are bottle caps too, they just went on milk bottles. The metal ones are for sodas and beer. So both are bottle caps, but only one kind gets called milk caps.
